In an attempt to control brawls between climbers, Nepal has reportedly decided to deploy a team of security officials at Everest base camp.

The move comes in the wake of last year's brawl between European mountaineers and a group of Sherpas at 7,470m (24,508ft) over the fixing of ropes on the slope.

An office staffed by army and police will open in April at Everest base camp as the climbing season gets under way, the BBC reported.

Dipendra Poudel , Nepal's tourism ministry official said that the security team of nine members would comprise three officers each from Nepal's army, police and armed police force.

It is also reported that the new office will aid climbers in distress and help with cleaning of the mountain along with enforcing climbing rules.
