NIA granted five days police custody of ISIS operative

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) was granted five-day police custody of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) operative Shajahan Velluva Kandy on Wednesday.
The NIA had earlier re-registered case against Kandy under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 120-B of IPC, Sections 18, 20, 38 of UA (P) Act, and Section 12 of the Passport Act.
Kandy, a resident of Kannur in Kerala, was arrested in July from Indira Gandhi International airport on his deportation by the Turkish authorities.
Kandy is an ISIS operative who had gone to Turkey and Syria for carrying out terrorist activities after procuring an Indian passport in the fake name.
