Odisha continues to reel under intense heat wave with temperatures in some parts of the state touching as high as 45 degrees, which is several notches above normal.
Titilagarh has emerged as the hottest place in the state with mercury touching 45.5 degrees Celsius. 13 other places, including Talcher, Bhawanipatna, Malkangiri and Bolangir, recorded temperature above 40 degrees.
The heat wave has so far claimed dozens of lives in Telangana and Odisha this season even as the IMD has predicted further increase in temperature.
Though the mercury level declined in the coastal belt including Bhubaneswar, which recorded 40.2 degrees Celsius, the entire western region of the state was on the boil.
The Met Department said the breeze blowing from the sea lessened the temperature in the coastal belt. It also said the blistering heat wave condition might continue till the April 21.
