Pacquiao undergoes successful shoulder surgery post Mayweather defeat

Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao has undergone a successful surgery on his injured right shoulder following his defeat to unbeaten American boxing champion Floyd Mayweather in the 'fight of the century' bout on Saturday.
The boxer-turned-politician underwent corrective surgery to fix his torn rotator cuff sustained months before the high-octane fight.
Although his surgeon Dr Neal ElAttrache said that he is more than pleased with the results, the Filipino faces up to a year out of the ring, the BBC reported.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao has been accused of perjury and is being sued in Nevada for allegedly lying about his pre-fight injury.
Pacquiao was prevented from receiving a pain-killing shot two hours before the bout because the Nevada Athletics Commission (NAC) were not aware of the injury.
As a result of which, the NAC is considering disciplinary action against Pacquiao for not disclosing the injury on a pre-fight questionnaire.
Although Mayweather had previously voiced his intention to retire after a final bout in September, the American has reportedly revealed that he is open to a rematch in 12 months time after Pacquiao recovers from shoulder surgery.
