UEFA boss Michel Platini has gained support of a majority of world football officials to stand for FIFA presidency.
It is said that Platini, who has been assured support from his own confederation, Asia, South America, plus North and Central America and the Caribbean, is yet to decide whether he wants to succeed Sepp Blatter, the BBC reported.
Meanwhile, February 26, 2016 has been decided as the date for the elections for the presidential post of world's football governing body.
It has also been announced that candidates for the position must be nominated before October 26.
Initially, it was predicted that elections would take place somewhere in December as it was favoured by several regional football confederations.
