The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has emerged as the largest party in the Gilgit Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA) after winning 14 of the 24 seats in elections for the assembly.
According to the Dawn, the Majlis-i-Wahdatul Mus-limeen (MWM) bagged two seats, while the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, PPP and Islami Teh-reek one each, as per the unofficial results.
PML-N candidates Jaffar-ullah won the GBLA-1 seat, Hafeezur Rehman GBLA-2, Dr Iqbal GBLA-3, Mir Ghaz-anfar GBLA-6, Haji Taban BGLA-7, Haji Fida Moham-mad GBLA-9, Iqbal Hassan GBLA-11, Ghulam Hussain GBLA-23, Farman Ali GBLA-13, Barkat Jamil GBLA-14, Haider Khan GBLA-17, Ibra-him Sanai GBLA-22 and Mo--hammad Wakeel GBLA-18.
Meanwhile Pakistan's Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan praised security forces for ensuring peaceful elections in Gilgit-Baltistan and the people of the region for their cooperation with law-enforcement agencies.
