Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K T Rama Rao on Thursday lauded the strength of demographic dividend which the nation is blessed with and said that population was a challenge for the society in the past but it is now looked as boon.
Rama Rao, who participated in the National Youth Day celebrations in Rama Krishna Matt at lower tank bund in Hyderabad, said 50 percent of the country's population is at the age of 29 and aged below 35.
"The youngsters are about 65 percent of the country. In the past population was a challenge but today we see it as a huge human resource which no other country has," he said.
He attended the event on behalf of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. The minister read out the message given to the youngsters by K. Chandrashekar Rao. In the letter, he appreciated youngsters and also mentioned the role played by the youth during Telangana agitation.
