President Ghani approves Balkh governor's resignation

Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani has approved Balkh Governor Atta Mohammad Noor's resignation. He has appointed Engineer Mohammad Dawood as Noor's successor, the Presidential Palace said in a statement on Monday.

Tolo News said the situation in Balkh capital Mazar-e-Sharif is normal following Noor's resignation.

Why he resigned is yet to be ascertained. Sources said that it could be revealed on Monday afternoon by his camp of supporters.
