Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Wednesday said that her government will do whatever is needed for the welfare of the farming community after a farmer from the state's Dausa district committed suicide in Jantar Mantar today.
"Will find out more about the incident. If this is true, we will take all necessary precautions. Will do whatever is needed to be done, including adequate compensation that is to be paid," said Raje.
Meanwhile, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari slammed the Congress Party and said that the farmers are suffering today because of the UPA regime's wrong policies.
"It is because of the Congress' wrong and anti-farmer policies that the farmers are in this bad condition today," said Gadkari.
Earlier in the day, the farmer, identified as Gajendra, hung himself from a tree at the Aam Aadmi Party's rally in Jantar Mantar because he had no means of support his family.
As per reports, a suicide note was found that revealed the farmer, who had three children, was banished from his house after his crop was damaged.
The incident also sparked criticism for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, with opposition parties condemning that the rally went on despite the grave incident.
