After a day of tussle with mediapersons outside the ashram of controversial godman Sant Rampal in Hisar's Barwala town, the Haryana Police has barred them from entering the clash site.

"I don't understand why the media is stopped. Even yesterday we were doing our work without disturbing them, they broke our cameras and hurt us," said a journalist.

"The police have stopped us from crossing a specific boundary. They don't want the coverage to take place. Even today, all the mediapersons are so scared that they might be beaten up again," he added.

Another scribe present at the site said that there is no support from the police officials.

"Yesterday, the DGP himself gave the permission to record and later the mediapersons were targeted badly. So, everybody is a bit scared today," he said.

"The barricades have been put today one and a half kilometers before and the entry is also banned. It seems like the police is trying to hide something," he added.

The Haryana Police, which is making all attempts to nab controversial sect leader, who continues to evade law and defy the Haryana and Punjab High Court orders to surrender, had yesterday used tear gas shells, water cannons and batons outside the ashram to disperse Rampal's supporters, who allegedly fired back leaving several people, including some mediapersons injured.

This incident took place after the Punjab and Haryana High Court had issued a fresh non-bailable warrant against Rampal for contempt of court.

Rampal faces contempt of court for skipping judicial proceedings before a Sessions Court in Haryana's Hisar district on November 5, citing medical reasons.

The godman has been charged with murder, attempt to murder and other charges under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in 2006 after his followers attacked villagers.
