It seems to be a slight turnaround for India's challenge at Rio Olympics as archer Deepika Kumari has also stormed into the pre-quarters of the women's individual recurve event after beating Italian international Guendalina Sartori 6-2 here on Thursday.

After losing the first set, the 2010 Commonwealth games gold medallist rebounded strongly to clinch the next three sets of the round of 32.

Deepika, who hails from Ranchi, posted a 24-27, 29-26, 28-26, 28-27 triumph over Sartori on Day five of the Rio Games here at Sambadrome venue.

Deepika, who stormed into the 1/16 elimination round with a 6-4 win over Georgia's Kristine Esebua, will now lock horns with TAN Ya-Ting of Chinese Taipe in the pre-quarters.

Earlier, Bombayla Devi, the other archer in the fray, had also progressed through to the pre-quarters of the event after defeating Chinese Taipei's Lin Shih-Chia 6-2 at the same venue.
