The Superintendent of Police, Raigad, Suez Haq on Saturday said that a probe has been launched into why a case was not registered in 2012 even after the remains of Sheena Bora's body was found, amid rising queries of an alleged 'cover-up' in the case.

"We have shown Mumbai police the spot from where the remains were recovered. Sample of bones etc have been sent to JJ Hospital in Mumbai. At the same time we are trying to find out why no offence was registered. It is a matter of enquiry and we will be completing it soon," said Haq in a Press conference.

Indrani was arrested by Khar police on August 25 in connection with the murder case. She was later produced before the Bandra court, which remanded her in police custody till August 31.

Her driver was also arrested on August 25 and during interrogation, he claimed Indrani had killed Sheena and that he had helped her in disposing of the body by dumping it in the forests of Raigad District.

The sensational Sheena Bora murder case probe took a fresh turn on Friday night when the police claimed that Sanjeev Khanna, the second husband of Indrani Mukerjea, confessed to his complicity in the crime during a joint interrogation of three accused.
