Shopian attack a 'grim reminder' of challenges in Kashmir: Omar Abdullah

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said that the attack by militants on security forces in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, which left three policemen dead, was a 'grim reminder' of the challenges in the Valley.

Omar took to twitter to share his views o the matter, also condoling the loss of lives in the encounter.

"Grim reminder of the challenges in Kashmir, while we celebrate the colours of spring and try to attract tourists 3 brave policemen are killed," he posted.

"My condolences to the families of the 3 policemen killed in the line of duty in #Shopian today. May their souls rest in peace," he added.

 

Earlier in the day, a militant attack at Ashipora in Shopian left three policemen dead.

According to reports, the militants opened fire on a police patrol, killing one head constable and two constables.

This attack came mere hours after a similar incident in the Patan area of the Baramulla district left one policeman injured.
