Sonia travels to US for regular health check-up

Congress president Sonia Gandhi left for the United States on Monday for her routine health check-up.

"Congress President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi is travelling to U.S for a routine regular check up. She will return within a week," tweeted Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala.

Party sources said the 68-year-old leader's check-up was due for two months and was delayed because of the Bihar Assembly polls.

Speculation over the Congress president's health peaked in 2011, when she left India for a surgery in the US.
