Manchester United and England football teams captain Wayne Rooney earns 3,00,000 pounds-a-week, but he has admitted that he still loves a kick-around on the streets of Liverpool.

As Rooney zooms in on his 100th cap for England next month, the striker has confessed that his football education on the streets of Croxteth has made him the player he is today.

Even now, on his frequent trips back home to see family and friends on Merseyside, Rooney admits that he can't resist a game of 'keepy-uppy' with childhood pals in the road where they live, The Mirror reported.

Former United bosses Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes both labelled Rooney the last street footballer, a throwback to past generations of boys who honed their skills on the tarmac outside their homes.

But as he approaches a milestone moment in his international career, probably against Slovenia at Wembley on November 15, Rooney has provided a glimpse of the street kid that still lurks inside.

Rooney said that he has always believed himself to be from the streets in terms of football, adding that he has always played on the streets with friends and still does now and again when he gets time.

The Manchester United striker said that the streets is where he learned to play football, and added that there was a lot of help along the way from the academy but the majority of his football was learned on the streets.

Rooney said that he still plays out on the road now and again, and added that he goes back and sees friends where he is from in Liverpool and they have a kick-around.

Rooney said that everywhere they go, there is a ball, adding that he is obviously not running around but they stand there and have a kick-around. He said that it is keepy-ups and messing around.
