The survivors of the Naxalite attack in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district said they were ambushed a large number of rebels who used rocket launchers, grenades and crude bombs.

"We were 36 in total. We first searched the area and the location. We dominated the area and held our positions. Suddenly we felt some commotion and I with my partner looked up for it. Grenades and bullets were raining down on us and then, we retaliated. Our team fought with dedication," Chandrakant Samadra, one of the survivors of the 74th Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) battalion, told ANI.

"The Maoists used rocket launchers, grenades and crude bombs. We all are grieving over the loss of our partners. If needed, we will take revenge," Samadra said.

Arvind Kumar said CRPF commanders ordered them to keep a keen eye on the movement of Maoists.

"How did we escape that situation and saved our colleagues, we ourselves don't know. We carried around 5-6 injured colleagues with us," he said.
