Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Subramanian Swamy on Sunday questioned his party's accountability after it scored lesser votes than None of the Above (NOTA) in RK Nagar by-polls.

Criticising the state BJP leadership for a poor show, Swamy tweeted, "TN BJP record: A national ruling party gets a quarter of NOTA's vote. Time for accountability".

As the fifth round of counting in RK Nagar by-poll concluded, sidelined AIADMK leader and independent candidate TTV Dhinakaran marked a clear lead overall, with a margin of over 11,000 votes.

As per the Election Commission, Dhinakaran is leading with 24,132 total votes, followed by AIADMK's E Madhusudhanan (13057) and DMK's N Marudhu Ganesh (6606).

BJP's candidate K Nagarajan is trailing behind with 485 votes, while NOTA has got 798 votes.

Key candidates in the fray are E Madhusudhanan from AIADMK, sidelined AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran, who is contesting as an independent, N Maruthu Ganesh from DMK and Karu Nagarajan from BJP.

The R K Nagar constituency went to polls on December 21, necessitated by the death of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa in December last year.
