In the wake of Pakistan restricting the Delhi-Lahore bus service to the Wagah border, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday said that it was for Islamabad to decide as to what is in their best interest in terms of their security, adding that temporary aberrations if any will be sorted out.
"If there are security concerns that they are expressing on their side it is for Pakistan to decide what is in their best interest in terms of security," MEA official spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin told media persons here.
"This is an initiative with our former prime minister and the prime minister of Pakistan took way back that is prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. We hope that it would ply in accordance with their vision. If there are temporary aberrations these will be sorted out," he added.
It is for the first time since its launch that the Dosti bus service has been restricted by Pakistan citing terror threats.
The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation has said the Pak-India Dosti bus service will now be operated only up to Wagah Border.
