ANI Dhaka [Bangladesh]

Upholding the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said on Wednesday that she wanted to see her country free from hunger and poverty.

The Daily Star quoted Hasina as saying, "We want to see a hunger- and poverty-free Bangladesh, where no people will be homeless and without food."

She was addressing a meeting with Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student front of Awami League, at her official residence, Gono Bhaban, here this afternoon.

Asking BCL leaders and activists to be vocal against the militancy, the Prime Minister said they would have to uphold principle and ideology to reduce illiteracy and poverty in the country.

Hasina reiterated her government's firm stance against terrorism and warned that there will be no room for militancy in Bangladesh.
