Tibetan Prime Minister-in-exile, Lobsang Sangay, has described U.S. President Barack Obama's visit to India on Republic Day as a celebration of democracies.
"America being the oldest democracy and India also being largest democracy, it is celebrations of democracies that we are going to witness today and it is also fitting because today is the day when India promulgated its constitution," Sangay said on Monday.
"It is demonstration or reflection of how close America and India are going to be and as Tibetans, we welcome and celebrate it," added Sangay.
President Obama, who was on a three-day visit of India, departed from Delhi today after concluding his trip.
During the trip, he became the first US president to attend the Republic Day celebrations and the first president to visit India twice while still in office.
