Tight security blanket over Delhi as India celebrates 68th Independence Day

India's 68th Independence Day was observed amidst a tight security blanket in capital New Delhi and neighbouring areas.
Police and paramilitary personnel were deployed at the airport, market places, railway stations, inter-state bus terminals and metro stations in major cities.
Prime Minister Modi unfurled the national tricolour and delivered a maiden Independence Day speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort that lasted for about 70 minutes.
Security remained watertight throughout the country on the occasion to prevent any untoward incident.
