The English press has pitied the Aussies in its Ashes reports after the Australian team suffered an embarrassing loss of 347 runs in the second Test at Lord's and has pleaded to them to at least put up a fight.

According to news.com.au, The Sun, which is supposed to be quite bold in its language, had headlines like 'Lord of the Manor' and 'Load of Cobbers,' but was expressing actual sympathy with Australia's plight in smaller text.

John Etheridge wrote that England administered such a savage beating that some people were actually starting to feel sorry for Australia, adding that it was more than sympathy and pity for a cricketing nation that gloatingly thrashed the living daylights out of England for almost two decades.

He further said that there was an increasing fascination about whether England could complete a 5-0 whitewash.
