The Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday slammed the opposition parties for creating hype around the bail of Mohammad Shahabuddin and said the USP of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar is its law and order.

JD (U) leader Ajay Alok said that action against the RJD strongman's bail would be taken by following the legitimate procedure of law.

"We are governing Bihar from past 11 years. And it is not the work of the government to save or blame anyone. It is mentioned in the CrPC and in the Constitution that anyone can challenge a bail. Necessary steps will be taken," said Alok.

"It is the opposition that is making a ruckus out of nothing, I would ask them to keep patience. One thing more I would like to mention is that the USP of the Nitish Kumar government is law and order and we make no compromises in this regard," he added.

Another JD (U) leader Pawan Verma echoed similar sentiments and said that Nitish Kumar came to power in Bihar because of his approach of zero tolerance against crime.

"Among the fundamental reasons why Nitish Kumar came to power a decade ago was his approach of zero tolerance against crime. Nothing has changed that approach," said Verma.

"I can assure you that all such actions will be taken to peruse the pending matter relating to Shahabuddin, The circumstances of his bail will be definitely watched carefully. Nobody should believe that he or she is above the law," he added.

In a major development signalling trouble for Shahabuddin who is out on release, a video has gone viral in which wanted sharpshooter Mohammad Kaif can be seen standing with the leader after his release from prison.

Kaif is one of the accused in the murder of Hindustan daily's Siwan bureau chief Rajdev Ranjan.

"Police probe against the accused (Mohammad Kaif) in case of journalist Rajdev Ranjan's murder is underway," Siwan SP Saurabh Shah told ANI.

In the video clip, Kaif can be seen standing right next to Shahabuddin and cheering him, as he spoke to media after being released on bail on Saturday.
