Energy stocks edge higher
Energy stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 2.31 points or 0.04% at 5145.88 at 09:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Goa Carbon Ltd (up 4.99%), Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (up 1.61%), Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (up 1.15%), Alphageo (India) Ltd (up 0.95%), Reliance Industries Ltd (up 0.38%), and Oil India Ltd (up 0.23%), were the top gainers.
On the other hand, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 2.63%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (down 2.05%), and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 1.35%) turned lower.
At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 129.22 or 0.32% at 40740.25.
The Nifty 50 index was down 29.45 points or 0.24% at 12023.5.

On BSE,433 shares were trading in green, 947 were trading in red and 63 were unchanged.
