Financials stocks edge higher
Financials stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Finance index increasing 206.05 points or 4.71% at 4582.02 at 09:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Finance index, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd (up 13.54%), Aditya Birla Money Ltd (up 13.19%),Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (up 12.68%),Equitas Holdings Ltd (up 11.35%),Shriram Transport Finance Company Ltd (up 10%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Cholamandalam Investment & Finance Company Ltd (up 9.98%), L&T Finance Holdings Ltd (up 9.96%), Ujjivan Financial Services Ltd (up 8.8%), LIC Housing Finance Ltd (up 8.55%), and GIC Housing Finance Ltd (up 8.27%).
On the other hand, Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd (down 0.36%), turned lower.
At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 1008.1 or 3.29% at 31610.71.
The Nifty 50 index was up 302.2 points or 3.36% at 9295.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 298.76 points or 2.83% at 10842.41.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 121.36 points or 3.27% at 3837.51.
On BSE,1405 shares were trading in green, 230 were trading in red and 70 were unchanged.
