VIX jumps for fifth consecutive session
The Nifty March 2020 futures were trading at 9,983.95, a premium of 28.75 points compared with the spot at 9,955.20.Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 8.07 lakh crore compared with Rs 26.32 lakh crore reported in the previous session.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index spurted 365.05 points or 3.81% at 9,955.20.
The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, jumped 24.43% to 51.22.
On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 26 March 2020 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 23.22 lakh at the 12,000 strike price. Maximum put OI of 20.67 lakh contracts was seen at 11,000 strike price.

SBI March 2020 futures were at 243, compared with spot closing price of 244.25. Reliance Industries March 2020 futures were at 1,115 compared with spot closing price of 1116.95. ICICI Bank March 2020 futures were at 447.65, compared with spot closing price of 449.95.
The F&O contracts for March expire on 26 March 2020.
