Nifty tanks nearly 5% on broad-based selling

The Nifty 50 index slumped 506.95 points or 4.61% to 10,482.50.

Among sectoral indices, Nifty Metal (down 7.43%), Nifty Media (down 6.35%), Nifty PSU Bank (down 5.06%), NIFTY Private Bank (down 4.93%), Nifty Bank (down 4.62%), Nifty IT (down 4.62%), Nifty Financial Service (down 3.99%), Nifty Auto (down 3.54%), Nifty Realty (down 3.28%), Nifty Pharma (down 2.9%) and Nifty FMCG (down 2.68%) tumbled.

In broader market, Nifty Mid-Cap 100 (down 4.3%) and Nifty Small-Cap 100 (down 4.68%) slumped.
