Quick Wrap: Nifty Energy Index rises 6.95%, NIFTY jumps 3.82%

Nifty Energy index closed up 6.95% at 11124.15 today. The index is down 19.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd gained 15.34%, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd added 13.22% and Reliance Industries Ltd jumped 8.08%. The Nifty Energy index is down 33.00% over last one year compared to the 26.32% decline in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Commodities index added 6.11% and Nifty PSE index added 5.91% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 recorded a gain of 3.82% to close at 8597.75 while the SENSEX added 3.62% to close at 29468.49 today.
