Emami Paper Mills clocked volume of 26.59 lakh shares by 12:31 IST on BSE, a 1575.94-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 1,687 shares. The stock spurted 10% to Rs 26.95 after the company said that a meeting of the members of the preference share committee of the company has been convened on 28 March 2014 to consider the applications received from the promoters and allotment of the cumulative redeemable non-convertible preference shares on preferential basis. The company made the announcement after market hours on Thursday, 20 March 2014.
Dewan Housing Finance Corporation notched up volume of 1.71 crore shares, a 314.09-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 54,000 shares. The stock jumped 7.15% to Rs 221.
Axis Bank saw volume of 5.07 crore shares, a 206.02-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 2.47 lakh shares. The stock rose 1.62% to Rs 1,378.80 on reports the government launched an offer to sell up to 4.22 crore shares, constituting a 9% stake, in India's third-largest private-sector bank by assets today, 21 March 2014, in a price range Rs 1,290 to Rs 1,357 per share.
Redington India clocked volume of 13.47 lakh shares, a 114.94-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 12,000 shares. The stock rose 2.79% to Rs 69.95.
Hercules Hoists saw volume of 10.99 lakh shares, a 53.75-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 20,000 shares. The stock rose 2.05% to Rs 112.
