3-day Cultural Heritage Festival of Kerala to be held in Delhi

IANS New Delhi

At a time when it is pummelled by the BJP at home, the CPI(M)-headed government in Kerala is organising a three-day Cultural Heritage Festival here from October 14 in collaboration with the AAP government in Delhi.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will jointly inaugurate the festival in Connaught Place Central Park by lighting the inaugural lamp.

The festival being held by the governments ruled by parties opposed to BJP comes at a time when the BJP has launched a big campaign in Kerala against the ruling CPI(M) accusing it of killing BJP-RSS workers in the state.

A variety of programmes on language, culture, tradition, art, literature and events highlighting the ethos and historical time-line of Kerala shall be staged for three days and nights at four different venues in Delhi, according to Kerala government officials.

Part of this festival will be an exhibition of Archaeology, Archives, Museums Departments, Book Mark Society, Kerala Lalita Academy and Vasthuvidya Gurukulam Aranmula which will be inaugurated on the opening day with a seminar on the "The Spread of the Ethos of Kerala".

A demonstration of "Kalaripayattu" (sword fight), a martial art of Kerala, will be performed by C.V.N. Kalari of Madhav Madom on Sunday.

The festival will also include a "Poothapattu" (song about the demon), Mohiniyattam and Galaxy of Musicians (unity in diversity), a journey through the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, who bridged Indian painting with international art, on the third and last day.
