China to better protect intellectual property

IANS Beijing

China has issued a guideline on the protection of intellectual property to help startups, according to a notice released on Monday.

The guideline was mapped out by five government bodies, including the State Intellectual Property Office and the ministry of finance, Xinhua news agency reported.

The country will explore more channels to realise the value of intellectual property, such as providing financial services and products for asset securitisation and patent insurance.

Banks and institutional investors are expected to provide loans for qualified startups, the guideline said.

It also demanded legal protection for investors.
