A court here has allowed the plea seeking extradition of an Uzbek woman, accused of human trafficking.
"I, hereby recommend to Union of India the extradition of the fugitive criminal (Lola Farmonovna Khakimova) on the offences of human trafficking in violation of Article 131, 135 and 223 of Criminal Code of Republic of Uzbekistan to the requesting state i.e. Republic of Uzbekistan," Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Gurmohina Kaur said in a November 3 order.
Khakimova was arrested on August 9 from Goa's Dabolim Airport in Goa on the basis of an Interpol Red Corner Notice. It was alleged that she was a member of organised criminal group who are involved in illegally crossing borders and sexually exploiting Uzbek people.
Navin Kumar Matta, who was representing the Union government, told the court that an extradition treaty exists between the requesting state and India, placing supporting documents before it.
