The CPI-M on Wednesday hailed the Left Front's sweeping victory in elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), calling it an "outstanding" win.
"In a landslide victory, the Left Front has bagged all the 28 seats of the TTAADC defeating all its opponents resoundingly," the Communist Party of India-Marxist said.
"Except for five seats, in all the other 23 seats, the Left Front got more than 50 percent of the votes polled," it said in a statement.
The CPI-M said it appreciated the fact that the people of Tripura "have thwarted all attempts at creating ethnic tensions". The victory, it said, was "outstanding".
