DUJ hails Verghese

The Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) Tuesday expressed grief over the death of veteran journalist B.G. Verghese, recalling his role in exposing the concept of paid news.

The DUJ said in a statement that Verghese upheld the "causes he believed in" and exposed "the paid news syndrome".

It said he had made laudable achievements to the Press Council of India, and hailed him for his role in development journalism and his espousal of civil liberties.
