God never abandons us, says Pope

Vatican City, Aug 22 (IANS/AKI) The bad times in life should never shake our belief in God's love and his unwavering support, Pope Francis said on Tuesday.

"When we are feeling sad, when it feels like everything is going wrong, we should remember: 'God loves me. God never abandons me'," he tweeted.

The tweet came after a magnitude 4 earthquake killed at least two people, injured 39 and left 2,600 homeless on the resort island of Ischia off Naples late on Monday.

Francis' nine-language @pontifex account on Twitter now has 37 million followers, a Vatican-tracking website reported this week.
