Government signs MoUs for port development

The government on Monday said it has concluded several agreements with foreign countries for development of ports and ship-building.

According to Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Munsukh L. Mandaviya, India has concluded five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with foreign governments in the last two years.

The Minister gave details of the MoUs to the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.

The MoUs have been concluded with Iran for development of Chabahar Port; with South Korea on co-operation in the fields of maritime transport and logistics; with Jordan on maritime transport including ship building; and with Spain on cooperation in port matters.

 

Further, the Minister elaborated that Cochin Shipyard, Kochi, has also concluded several MoUs for manufacture of different types of sea vessels.
