Gunmen kill Yemeni military officer

Unidentified gunmen shot dead a Yemeni air force officer in the southeastern Hadramout province Saturday, a security officer told Xinhua.

About two armed assailants on a motorbike opened gunfire on Colonel Yahya al-Omesy near a public market in Sayun town, killing him immediately, the local security officer said on condition of anonymity.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
