Haryana ups allowance for dwarfs, eunuchs

Dwarfs and eunuchs will get enhanced monthly allowance in Haryana, the state cabinet decided at its meeting here Thursday.

"Under the allowance to dwarf scheme, now the dwarfs would get monthly allowance of Rs.1,000 instead of Rs.500 given earlier," a state government spokesman said here.

The allowance for eunuchs has also been enhanced from Rs.500 earlier to Rs.1,000 per month.

"A male of 3 feet 8 inches or less height and a female with 3 feet 3 inches or less height (equivalent to 70 percent disabled) are entitled to get this monthly allowance," the spokesman said.

Haryana had introduced the allowance for dwarfs and eunuchs in June 2006.
