Amritsar city in recorded a high of 41.6 degrees, nine degrees above average. Patiala and Ludhiana in were at 40.8 and 40.9 degrees, respectively.

Chandigarh recorded a high of 38.9 degrees while Ambala in saw a high of 39.4 degrees. Met department officials said heat wave conditions would prevail over the region in the coming days.
