The hills of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday largely remained dry with the day's temperature seeing a rise by three to four notches, a weatherman said, adding showers are in store this weekend.

"A fresh western disturbance would hit western Himalayan region and northwest India on May 28, bring rain and thundershowers during the next two days," an official of the India Meteorological Department here told IANS.

The minimum and maximum temperatures soared due to the prevailing dry spell. Shimla recorded a maximum temperature at 25.5 degrees Celsius, while Una town was hot with a high of 39.4 degrees.

Dharamsala, the headquarters of the Tibetan government-in-exile, recorded 30.8 degrees Celsius, while it was 34.7 degrees in Sundernagar, 22 degrees in Kalpa and 32.8 degrees in Nahan.
