I wasn't allowed to date: Rihanna

Pop star Rihanna was banned by her mother from dating boys until she was 16-year-old.

The 25-year-old said that even after she was in her late teens, her mother tried to dissuade her even further.

"I wasn't allowed to date. At 13 my mom would tell me, 'You can have a boyfriend when you're 16!' And then at 16 she'd say, 'I never said that - and as a matter of fact, it's 40," femalefirst.co.uk quoted Rihanna as saying.

Rihanna had dated rapper Chris Brown in the past.
