Industrial output rises 4.7 percent in May

India's industrial output rose by 4.7 percent in May, the best performance in nearly two years, on the back of healthy growth in manufacturing production, government data showed Friday.
The cumulative growth in factory output, measured in terms of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) for the first two months of the current fiscal stood at 4 percent.
Manufacturing sector registered a healthy 4.8 percent growth during the month under review, according to data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
Mining registered a growth of 2.7 percent, while electricity output jumped by 6.3 percent in May.
