The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiromani Akali Dal combine candidate for the assembly by-poll in Delhi Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Saturday alleged that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wasted crores of money of taxpayers.

The Rajouri Garden assembly seat fell vacant after Jarnail Singh resigned to contest the Punjab assembly elections.

"The LG of Delhi has rightly ordered extraction of payment of Rs 97 crore from AAP for wasting money of taxpayers on advertising outside Delhi."

"Kejriwal and his coterie considered the money in the government accounts as their personal and their party's wealth and started wasting it on the promotion of the AAP," a release quoted Singh as saying.

He also said: "Never in the history of any state such a huge misuse and wastage of public money was seen in the history of Independent India".
