Killing people in the name of cows unacceptable: Modi

Killing people in the name "gau bhakti" is not acceptable, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday.

"As a society, there is no place for violence," he said in a speech at the Sabarmati Ashram here.

"Killing people in the name of 'gau bhakti' (cow worship) is not acceptable," he said. "This is not something Mahatma Gandhi would approve."
