An exit poll by the Crimean Republic Institute for Political and Social Studies showed that 93 percent of voters in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea favoured reunification with Russia, media reports said late Sunday.
The remaining seven percent were polled as in favour of staying with Ukraine but with greater autonomy by restoring the 1992 Crimean constitution, Xinhua reported.
Sunday's referendum, the third in the history of Crimea, had its exit poll commissioned by the Kryminform news service and conducted by the Crimean Republic Institute for Political and Social Studies.
The final results of the 12-hour plebiscite are expected to come out overnight, with a possible official announcement some time Monday.
