The South Korean health ministry on Tuesday said there were eight more cases of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), bringing the total to 95.

An infected patient also died of the viral disease, raising the total death toll to seven, Xinhua news agency reported.

The World Health Organisation (WHO), along with South Korean officials, will conduct a joint investigation into the rapid spread of the virus for five days starting Tuesday.

The team will visit hospitals where MERS infections were identified or quarantined patients are being kept and analyse the characteristics of the MERS corona virus in cooperation with the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
