The 12th battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in Itanagar will be made operational from January 15, NDRF Director General O.P. Singh on Wednesday.
"For the time being, we'll be using the land of Sashastra Seema Bal. We'll also be sending a proposal to purchase a land worth Rs 33 crore from Arunachal government," he said.
"We'll also be requesting the state governments for land, so that we can increase the number of battalions," he added.
