The National Housing Bank (NHB) on Monday increased its refinance limit to Rs 30,000 crore to make more funds available to eligible housing finance companies.
It had initially set a limit of Rs 24,000 crore this year (July 2018-June 2019) for refinancing eligible institutions.
"Till date, Rs 8,835 crore has been sanctioned. This refinancing is a credit flow to housing finance companies and other institutions," an official statement said.
The NHB is the principal agency to promote housing finance institutions in the country and to provide financial support to eligible institutions.
As a regulator, it regularly monitors the liquidity position of housing finance companies.
