Nine security personnel killed in Iraq attack

At least nine security personnel were killed and 24 injured on Friday when Iraqi forces repelled an Islamic State (IS) attack in Salahudin province, police said.

Dozens of IS militants attacked a military base housing army and paramilitary units in Mettiebeja area of the province, Xinhua news agency quoted a source as saying.

The troops managed to repel the attack, the source said.
