India's High Commissioner to Pakistan T.C.A. Raghavan, who lays down office next month, met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday, the media reported.

Nawaz and Raghavan discussed bilateral issues and the envoy's role during his stay as the high commissioner in Pakistan, Dawn online reported.

Raghavan was appointed Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan in June 2013.

He previously served as deputy high commissioner in Islamabad from 2003 to 2007 and was known as a diplomat with a thorough understanding of Pakistan's political dynamics.

Raghavan has also served in key diplomatic assignments in Pakistan, the United Kingdom, Bhutan, and Kuwait since he joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1982.

Prior to his tenure as the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Raghavan served as the Indian High Commissioner to Singapore.

Gautam H. Bambawale, at present Indian ambassador to Bhutan, will succeed Raghavan as India's new high commissioner to Pakistan.
